A Quick Note

It's been so busy I've not had time to put all the new stuff we have into the store, but here is a list:

  • Lomotec Retro light, but not the version with standlight or switch yet.
  • CLB city bike levers
  • NOS Stronglight dust caps
  • NOS TA bidon cage clamps in the ancient paper packages.
  • All sizes of Rivendell/Nitto stems
  • Another case of the rare and beautiful Simplex/Gipiemme retrofriction shift levers
  • And more neat stuff that I haven't even unpacked yet
I'll try to get this stuff counted, checked, and set up in the store by Monday

We also have the latest essential biking accessory from Japan. That's right, we now stock the amazing e-bell. Read all about it here. Sumi-masen!

And finally, we've stopped opening the showroom on Saturday morning. We simply get too few customers then; everybody must be out riding.

The light looks really great. An electric plastic bell? Whatever.

For years my daughter had a green squeaky turtle on her bars. She'd mash the poor little sucker with gusto. "SQUEEK!" That's turtle for "On YOUR left!"

Neil, Lorna's new bike is getting an e-bell, even if you don't order it ;<)

Guys, just a heads-up, I bought one of those B&M Retro headlamps when I was in England. Somewhat difficult to mount 'em in the way we know and love, i.e., hanging from the side of a rack, because of the way the chromed plastic shell fits on there. I chucked it and just used a regular Schmidt headlight, which is a little wonky with its big concave face but otherwise pretty normal looking.

This Retro unit would be fine for bikes that do not have a front rack, as you mount them to the front brake bolt. That being said, it's perhaps a little bid of a strange bird, because it's nothing other than a plastic shell that goes around a standard B&M light. The shell doesn't have any function; it's purely decorative. Not that there's anything wrong with that ... I'm just duly noting this fact.

Chris,
I'm sorry to see the shop will be closed on Saturdays. That kind of eliminates all the non-Annapolis customers from visiting, since most people work during the week. Can "appointments" be arranged in the future?

I just noticed a kind of rough-looking TA triple crankset on craigslist for $35. (It's not mine, just thought someone here would appreciate it.)

Close the shop on Saturday. Enjoy your life. Enjoy your family. Go for a ride.

The shop closing on Saturdays was a logical decision. Almost all of our customers, and relatively few are locals, arrive during the week. Some Saturdays we don't have more than one or two visitors. We might decide to stay open one Saturday a month.

Are the CLB city bike levers you refer to in this post the CLB inverse levers?
